About The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau
The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for collecting delinquent taxes for the County Treasurer, school districts, townships, and boroughs. After collections, the funds are dispersed to the appropriate taxing bodies. The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau provides tax information regarding delinquencies to banking institutions, real estate agencies, attorneys, etc., as well as to individuals and title searchers. The bureau conducts tax sales as prescribed by law.
Washington County does NOT maintain an excess fund list. All monies are distributed to owner(s) or to the Municipalities after 3 years.

Effective as of June 1, 2025, an additional $250.00 fee will be collected for each parcel sold for the newly implemented Demolition & Rehabilitation Fund in addition to successful bid amounts. This fee will be added to each of the bid prices when purchasing parcels at Upset and Judicial Sales. This fee must be paid at the same time as bid monies are paid to the Washington County Treasurer the day of the sale. Please click here to learn more about this new ordinance.

If your parcel has been exposed and unsold at any tax sale...
- You will NOT be able to redeem your parcel by online/web payment. You must either mail in your full payment or bring the payment directly to the Washington County Treasurer for payment processing. The Washington County Treasurer is located at 95 W. Beau St, Ste. 130, Washington, PA 15301 and is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Accepted payments are cash, money orders, cashier's checks, or attorney's checks only. No personal checks will be accepted.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: DELINQUENT TAX PAYMENTS are collected Monday-Friday, 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M in the Washington County Treasurer's Office located at 95 W. Beau St, Ste. 130, Washington, PA 15301. No personal checks will be accepted for delinquent tax payments.
